Day waned and the valley was shadows; into its basket it gathered and fell silent. Maidens sang toward evening, like a flute my heart answered— and throbbed.

The valley slumbered; the singing maidens were gone. Night came. Only my heart still, like a flute, answered the song—and throbbed.
