How many trials will I still put you through, my beloved?
How many trials?
I am rain that falls; you are a rock of iron,
But water, in the end, wears down stones
How many times will you still forgive me, my beloved?
How many times?
I am a cursed child; you are never alarmed,
You wander through my rooms when everyone is already asleep
And your hand is a home for me
After all, I was born sad; do not forget,
Only with you do I gather pieces of life,
And each morning anew I learn how to rejoice
Where do we go from here, my beloved?
Where do we go?
Take me with you to a realm of rest,
Teach me to see even along dark paths
How pure your heart is, my beloved
How pure?
One day perhaps I will give you my eyes,
Only so that you can see yourself through me
