בחדרו הקטן במלון הישן ישב גבר צעיר שחור שיער וזקן ישב וכתב רעיון מטורף מדינת היהודים קום תקום הוא ידע לחלום ולהלהיב אנשים אך ידע שצריך כל חלום להגשים ולכן הוא כינס את עמו לקונגרס ודיבר עליהם ציונות

In his small room in the old hotel sat a young man, black-haired and bearded, he sat and wrote down a crazy idea: The Jewish state will arise. He knew how to dream and to inspire people, but he knew that every dream must be realized, and therefore he convened his people to a congress and spoke to them about Zionism.

הוא אמר להם: "אני, תסלחו לי, ציוני זה אולי לא הגיוני, אבל זה מה שאני"

He said to them: "I, forgive me, am a Zionist It may not be logical, but that's what I am"

והם באו כולם לאותו הקונגרס והקשיבו לאיש הנלהב, התוסס האומר: "די לחלום! כי הגיע היום לעשות מעשים של ממש" כך נולדה לה לפתע תנועה חדשה שדיברה ועשתה ציונות בלי בושה והעם הנדהם התבונן בה נרגש וזקף את ראשו מחדש

And they all came to that very congress and listened to the enthusiastic, vibrant man who said: "Enough dreaming! For the day has come to do real deeds." Thus a new movement was suddenly born, that spoke and practiced Zionism without shame, and the astonished people looked at it, moved, and lifted their heads anew.

כך חלפו השנים ואותה התנועה לא שקטה ולא נחה אפילו שעה וכל מה שעשתה כבר נחקק ונרשם בדברי תולדותיו של העם! והיום כששמים מסביב מרכאות מבטה העיקש שוב פונה לבאות היא אומרת לעם: "החלום עוד לא תם יש ויש פה עוד מה לעשות"

Thus the years passed, and that movement did not grow quiet nor rest even for an hour, and all that it did has already been etched and recorded in the chronicles of the people! And today, when quotation marks are put all around, its stubborn gaze again turns to what is to come, and it says to the people: "The dream is not yet over indeed, there is still much to do here"

ולכן, לכן אני גם היום עוד ציוני זה אולי לא הגיוני...

And therefore, therefore I am still, even today, a Zionist; it may not be logical...
