וגם אני הוא בעל עסק לא עסק כסף, לא עסק כבוד אך עסק אחר יש לי הלא אנחנו מברכים בכל יום אשר קדשנו במצוותיו וציוונו לעסוק בדברי תורה גם זה הוא עסק גדול, רבותי לעסוק בדברי תורה

And I too am a man of business. Not a business of money, not a business of honor, but I have another kind of business. For we bless every day: “Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to engage in words of Torah.” This too is a great business, my friends— to engage in words of Torah.

This is our business—to engage in words of Torah, to breathe life into the difficult matters of our holy Torah.

מה היה תמיד נחמתנו בעניינו איפה מצאנו מקום מנוחה לנוח מעט מעמל תלאותנו אם לא בבית המדרש בעמקות הלימוד בצל הגמרא הקדושה שמה פשטנו מעלינו את עול גלותנו ולבשנו מחלצות של קדושה

What has always been our comfort in our situation? Where did we find a place of rest, to relax a little from the burden of our hardships, if not in the study hall, in the depths of learning, in the shade of the holy Gemara? There we cast off from ourselves the yoke of our exile and donned garments of holiness.
