בִּשְׁבִיל טִפָּה שֶׁל חֶסֶד
אֶתֵּן אֶת אוֹצְרוֹתַי
שֶׁבְּלֵילוֹת שֶׁל חֵשֶׁק
לִטְּפוּ אֶצְבְּעוֹתַי
וְלָמָּה הוֹן עָתֵק
הַמַּלָּחִים עַל חוֹף
שָׁפְכוּ מִן הָאַרְנָק
הִצִּיעוּ לִנְסִיכוֹת
מְזֻיָּפוֹת עִם עֶרֶב
בִּשְׁבִיל טִפָּה שֶׁל חֶסֶד
For a drop of kindness
I will give my treasures,
which on nights of desire
my fingers caressed.
And why would sailors on the shore
pour vast wealth from their purses,
offering it to princesses,
counterfeit come evening,
for a drop of kindness.
בִּשְׁבִיל טִפָּה שֶׁל חֶסֶד
עוֹד אֶהֱפֹךְ עוֹרִי
גַּם אֲשַׁנֶּה אֲרֶשֶׁת
אֶנְטשׁ אֶת מִבְצָרִי
יָפָה שֶׁלִּי זִכְרִי
כֵּיצַד בְּלַהֲטָם
מְלָכִים וְאַבִּירִים
פָּרְקוּ הֵם מֵעַצְמָם
גַּם כּוֹחַ וְגַם נֶשֶׁק
בִּשְׁבִיל טִפָּה שֶׁל חֶסֶד
For a drop of kindness
I will yet shed my skin,
I will also change my countenance,
abandon my fortress.
My fair one, remember
how, in their fervor,
kings and knights
stripped themselves
of both power and weapons
for a drop of kindness.
בִּשְׁבִיל טִפָּה שֶׁל חֶסֶד
אֶתֵּן אֶל כָּל יָמַי
וְאֶת אֲשֶׁר הַגֶּשֶׁם
הוֹתִיר מֵעֲלוּמַי
לָכֵן יָפָה לָכֵן
שִׁירִי נִשָּׂא אֵלַיִךְ
מִבַּעַד עֲרָפֶל
רוֹאֶה אֶת דִּמְעוֹתַיִךְ
כְּשֶׁאַתְּ אֵלַי נִגֶּשֶׁת
בִּשְׁבִיל טִפָּה שֶׁל חֶסֶד
For a drop of kindness
I will give all my days
and whatever the rain
has left of my youth.
Therefore, fair one, therefore,
my song is borne to you;
through the fog
I see your tears
when you come to me,
for a drop of kindness.
