לארצות הברית
רק עם דיילת וענן
שתי דקות לנחות
שתי דקות להמריא
ובין שני אלה יש עוד זמן
On a jet plane
to the United States
only with a stewardess and a cloud
two minutes to land
two minutes to take off
and between those two there is still time
אז אני פונה לפתע
לדיילת, ואומר לה:
"יש לי שאלה אחת להעביר:
אם אפשר לחיות למטה
כאילו זה למעלה?"
הרי היא ציפור שחיה באוויר
Then I suddenly turn
to the stewardess, and say to her:
“I have one question to pass on:
Is it possible to live down below
as if it were up above?”
after all, she is a bird that lives in the air
שתי עיניה מחייכות
"שאלה של השקפה
אם חיים יותר נכון
אז לא משנה איפה!"
Her two eyes are smiling:
“A matter of perspective.
If one lives more rightly,
then it doesn’t matter where!”

באמצע מפזר שינה
On a jet plane
in a chance conversation
only with a stewardess and a cloud
two minutes to land
two minutes to take off
in between, drowsiness spreads
ונרדם פשוט לקראת ה-
נחיתה ההיא למטה
מהרהר קצת בדבריה
"אם נכון
שאפשר לחיות למעלה
כאילו זה למטה
אז למה חגורות הביטחון?"
And I simply fall asleep toward that
landing down below,
pondering a bit her words:
“If it’s true
that you can live up above
as if it were down below,
then why the seat belts?”
שתי עיניה, מרגיעות:
"שאלה של השקפה
הקפה יגיע עוד מעט
עוד מעט, אז אל תפחד"
Her eyes, reassuring:
“A matter of perspective.
The coffee will arrive soon,
very soon, so don’t be afraid.”

On a jet plane
to shorten distances,
and in conversation to lengthen them,
two minutes to land
two minutes to take off,
the stewardess adds words
"אם אתה עובר ת'לילה
אז סימן שכבר עברת
את מרחק הלב מן המחר
וחיית קצת למעלה
וחיית קצת למטה
העיקר חיית כי בסוף תנחת"
“If you make it through the night,
it means you’ve already crossed
the heart’s distance from tomorrow,
and you lived a little above,
and you lived a little below,
the main thing is you lived, for in the end you’ll land.”
אני מביט בה ומחייך:
"שאלה של השקפה"
עכשיו אני יודע, איך
היא הציפור במעופה
I look at her and smile:
“A matter of perspective.”
Now I know how
she is the bird in her flight.
